Our story

A little bit about us...

Bailie’s Gymnastics opened in Draper in 1987. Steve Bailie and Sharon Bailie-Pigott are the brother/sister team who own the gym. They and their parents have owned and operated many other gyms across the country and decided to come to Utah. Back when the original Draper location opened, 12300 South was a quiet country road, and our only close neighbors were cows and sheep! They chose the location for the growth potential of the area, and their research paid off when a huge period of growth hit the area in the 1990’s. 12300 South became a major thoroughfare, and while the cows and sheep were still there, so was plenty of traffic and congestion! We soon outgrew our original facility, and after years of hard work were able to build our current facility which opened in March of 2003.

At Bailie’s we believe that gymnastics can benefit children of all ages and levels. Our program is structured so that all gymnasts progress at their own pace, with many opportunities for gymnasts in the beginning levels as well as the higher “competitive team” levels of the sport. We currently have a staff of 20 Instructors and Coaches who are chosen to work at Bailie’s based on their love of working with children, their ability to convey ideas, and their use of positive reinforcement to teach gymnastics skills. We work hard to teach gymnastics in a fun, safe, and positive environment. We know that the benefits of gymnastics extend far beyond the walls of the gym, for the determination, perseverance, and self confidence that we teach here are skills that will last a lifetime. We take our leadership role with children very seriously. We use positive language, calm voices, and create an atmosphere where children are free to enjoy themselves and the experience of learning gymnastics skills.
